Elizabeth M. StewartMrs. Stewart a native Floridan who grew up in the Brandon area. She attended Brandon High School and lives in Apollo Beach with her husband.
The 2022-2023 school year marks her 18th year as the Choral Director at Riverview High School. This year, she teaches Keyboard (Piano skills), AP Music Theory, Vocal Techniques (Harmonix), Vocal Ensemble (Vision), and two general chorus classes. During her tenure at Riverview, she has additionally taught courses in Musical Theatre, Music Appreciation, Orchestra, ESE Music, and Guitar. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Music with a concentration in Vocal performance and a minor in piano from the University of Tampa (1991). She attended the Educator Preparation Institute through Hillsborough Community College to earn her Florida Teaching Certificate. She holds a Masters of Music Education from the University of Florida (2016). Her Capstone Project on Vocal Jazz Education was published in a journal for Vocal Jazz education in 2018. She is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Music Education (D.M.E.) at Liberty University. Her expected graduation date is 2024. She has become an adjudicator through the Florida Vocal Association to be a judge for Solo & Ensemble and Choral MPA's. Additionally, she is pursuing a certification with CollegeBoard to be a grader for the Advanced Placement Music Theory Exam. Prior to the appointment as Choral director, she owned and operated her own Voice and Performing arts studio in the Brandon area for 18 years and has trained over 300 voices, many whom are working professionals in music as commercial artists, college professors, cruise ship and theme park entertainers and music educators. She is an active member of the Florida Vocal Association, the Florida Music Educators Association, the Hillsborough County Secondary Music Council, and the American Choral Directors Association. "It my goal as a music educator to help my students realize the extent of their full potential, not only as developing musicians, but also as productive members of our society; fully equipped with life skills that will sustain them and contribute to their future success after high school." |
